Story Of Rex

Rex Bionics - Bionic Man

Rex started in 2003. Robert Irving, long time friend and colleague of Richard Little, was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis and understood there was a fair chance he might need to use a wheelchair one day. Both have mothers that use wheelchairs and understood a little of some of the access and attitudinal barriers that wheelchair users can face. With Robert's mother also using a chair from MS he was aware of what his future might look like.

The two friends therefore decided that they could use their engineering know-how to develop a realistic standing and walking alternative.

Eight years on from the first sketch of Rex and thousands of hours of walking later, Rex Bionics now has two manufacturing sites and a team of world-class engineers and support staff.

Rex Bionic's team are passionate about using technology to overcome barriers faced by people with disabilities, for Richard and Robert particularly the payback is that users say "I just feel great using Rex". That is what drives the team every day. Working with the disability community is addictive; it is a pleasure to come to work each and every day.

For Rex this is just the beginning...
